Standby Infrastructure

Brief:

SACX was tasked with providing a new dedicated LV panel to support the backup of essential supplies to the building, along with the installation of a new standby generator and UPS supply.

What we did:

SACX installed 2 x 185mm 4-core SWA cables in parallel, running from the roof down 8 floors through the riser and a restaurant to the basement for the standby generator supply. These were terminated into a new Hager LV panel. Additionally, several circuits were relocated from a separate panel to the new LV panel, and the supply from the UPS was also installed.

Challenges overcome:

The project presented several challenges, including access and deliveries. SACX used the crane provided for the standby generator to hoist the two cable drums onto the roof. Due to limited space on the roof and in the riser, careful planning was essential. Since the ground floor housed a restaurant, work had to be conducted out of hours, including the shutdown. Access for the LV panel delivery was also restricted, requiring the use of specialized lift and shift equipment.
