Bowling Alley Demolition

Brief:

Demolition of an existing building due to a tree falling through the roof during a storm.

What We Did:

Sacx promptly attended the site to assess the health & safety risks and damage to the building. Asbestos was found in the roof and floor tiles, which was safely removed by our subcontractors. Salvageable bar and kitchen equipment were carefully set aside before the demolition process began.

Our demolition team arrived with a 32T excavator equipped with a selector grab, alongside various roll-on/roll-off skips, ready for debris removal. The team, along with a site banksman, manually sorted and separated rubble, wood, and metal into dedicated bins. The building was demolished down to its foundations, leaving only a concrete pad as instructed, ready for the next phase of the project upon the client’s request.

We worked closely with the Station Commander to align with her vision of maximizing car parking space. This collaborative effort strengthened our relationship with the Commander, who appreciated our professionalism throughout the project—ultimately leading to further opportunities for Sacx.

Challenges Overcome:

Since the building was still active before the tree damage, live services were present. Our electrical team successfully isolated the building and terminated the connections at the substation.

Outcome:

The site was left clean, tidy, and ready for future development, with a flat foundation in place.
