Sandringham Centre

Brief:

The project focused on upgrading the external lighting and installing a new children’s soft play area at RAF Marham’s Sandringham Centre. The aim was to enhance both the functionality and safety of the site, providing a modern and engaging outdoor space for families.

What we did:

We began by conducting a thorough site evaluation to ensure our work aligned with a canopy being installed by an external company at the Sandringham Centre.

Our team at Sacx prepared the ground before any additional construction work could proceed. This involved adjusting the levels of the site to create a stable foundation and installing an ACO drainage system to manage surface water effectively. Ensuring compliance with local standards and regulations, we carefully reinstated the existing tarmac around both the play area and pathways to maintain a seamless appearance and durable finish.

Once the new canopy was in place, we coordinated the installation of the children’s play area. The surface was covered with Crumble Rubber, a soft and durable material ideal for playgrounds, which was laid down carefully. We allocated sufficient time for the rubber to cure properly before the scheduled grand opening.

After the play area was completed, we added the finishing touches by dressing the landscape around the site, making sure the overall environment was not only functional but also visually appealing.

Challenges overcome:

There were no significant challenges encountered during the project. Our team maintained clear communication with the external company installing the canopy, ensuring smooth progress throughout the various stages of work.
